Further, as per the latest reports, on approving the scheme, the Chief Minister said, “Today, the Cabinet gave its nod to the Student Credit Card scheme. Anyone, who has spent 10 years in West Bengal can avail of the benefits of it. The loan will be available for undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral and post-doctoral study in India or abroad. One person is eligible for the scheme till 40 years of age.”
She added, “Fifteen years will be given to a student to repay the loan after getting a job. The programme will be launched on June 30 this year.”
Also, according to earlier reports, on June 16, the Chief Minister had doubled the entitlements of the Krishak Bandhu scheme and provided cash transfers to farmers and agricultural workers, which had also been promised by the State’s ruling party.
Moving on, Mamata Banerjee also wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for speeding up the process of approvals for Covaxin from WHO (World Health Organization). Through her writing, she addressed, “This shall not only help students, but several others, willing to travel abroad for various purposes. Presently, those who have taken Covaxin are not able to do so with ease and hence we sincerely hope that our requests will not fall on deaf ears.”
She added that students, who are willing to travel abroad for pursuing higher studies, aren’t able to do so because the process is getting constructed slowly, and that is why amid this crisis, taking steps towards easing their lives should be their topmost priority.
“The West Bengal Government has taken the vaccination programme in its right earnest and administered more than 2 crore vaccines to people of the State till date,” said Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
