Indian Idol’s season 12 has run into another allegation after Amit Kumar revealed the controversy. Many of us assumed that shows like Indian Idol would be unscripted, until now.
Sunidhi Chauhan began her career at the age of four. Since then, the singer has been passionate about music which has always reflected in her songs. She is the recipient of more than one Filmfare award and has always been a spokesperson for building the music community. Sunidhi has always been vocal about encouraging new voices in the industry and it came as a shock to many, when she chose to leave Indian Idol mid season.
Unfortunately, her leaving is justified as she continues to be passionate about being honest with her guidance to aspiring singers. The singer released the following statement in regard to her departure from the show. “ Not exactly this ki sabko karna hai but yes, we all were told (to praise). That was the basic thing. And so, I couldn’t go on. I couldn’t do what they wanted and I had to part ways. Hence, today, I am not judging any reality show”.
Sunidhi Chauhan felt that the singers were being dragged with comments and false praise, which was psychologically affecting them and thus affecting their ability to grow. Amit Kumar, the singer also left the show due to the same reason. As stated in her interview, “ Yes, some of them still do work hard but the instant fame affects them psychologically. It’s a simple case of acquiring too much too soon. Not the contestants’ fault, it’s simply because the name of the game is TRPs”.
Both the singers believed that the false praising of contestants was a gimmick to raise TRP’s. It seems like both the singers chose to be judges and guide other singers to their best potential. However, when they realized that the show was more inclined to the numbers and statistics rather than talent it was time to leave!
