Sunil Grover, renowned for his iconic character Gutthi on Comedy Nights With Kapil, has resurfaced alongside Kapil Sharma after a seven-year hiatus. Their reunion in an upcoming web series promises to be a significant moment for fans who witnessed their infamous fallout during their tenure on The Kapil Sharma Show.

The Feud: A Recap

In 2017, a heated altercation erupted between Kapil Sharma, Sunil Grover, and Chandan Prabhakar during a flight from Melbourne. Reports suggested that Kapil, allegedly intoxicated, physically and verbally mistreated Sunil, even going so far as to slap him. Following this incident, Sunil chose to part ways with Kapil’s show.

The Reunion

After four years, Sunil Grover has broken his silence on the long-standing feud. In an exclusive interview with Zoom, he candidly addressed the past clash with Kapil Sharma. Despite their rocky history, the two comedians are gearing up to collaborate again on an OTT show, Sunflower Season 2 on Zee5.

Sunil said

“You cannot change your fate. Jab jab jo hona hota hai, tab woh woh hota hai. Iss case mein log keh reh hai, ki ye publicity stunt tha naya program ke liye. I’m thinking, “Thik hai, iss show ke liye publicity stunt hi hai” (laughs). We are working together, and I am both eager and delighted.”

Translation: Actually, you can’t change your fate. Things happen at the appropriate times. In this case, they believe it was a promotional gimmick for the new program. Okay, if this is merely a marketing trick for the show’s premiere (laughs). I’m pleased to be working with you now.

Sunflower Season 1

Rahul Sengupta and Vikas Bahl are the directors of the ZEE5 original online series Sunflower, a black comedy. Reliance Entertainment is in charge of production, and actor-comedian Sunil Grover plays the title character, Sonu.

Publicity Stunt Or Destiny?

Sunil reflects on the public perception that their feud was merely a publicity stunt. He humorously acknowledges the speculation, saying, “Actually, you cannot change your destiny. Things happen when they are supposed to happen. In this case, people say it was a publicity stunt for the new show. I’m like, okay, if it’s just a publicity stunt for the launch of this show (laughs). Now that we are working together, I’m excited and happy.”
