Vikram: Suriya’s Character ‘ROLEX’ To Get A Spin-Off In Upcoming Film
The action-thriller film “Vikram,” which hit theatres in June this year, has emerged as the biggest blockbuster in both the Tamil film industry and the career of its lead actor, Kamal Haasan. The multi-starrer, which is written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is a part of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU), founded by the young filmmaker. It has already been confirmed that there will be more films in the franchise, and one of them will be based on the character played by Suriya.
Suriya’s character will get a spin-off
In a recent filmmakers’ meet organised by an online media agency, lead producer Kamal Haasan and director Lokesh Kanagaraj confirmed that there will be more instalments in the LCU, including Vikram’s sequel titled “Vikram 2” and Karthi’s “Kaithi 2.” Interestingly, director Lokesh, on the question of “Can we expect the character played by Suriya to make a film for Rolex” confirmed that it is also on the list.
Lokesh Kanagaraj said that, currently, “I am working on a film called Thalapathy 67. After that, I will have to sit with Kamal Haasan and talk first. So, it’s going to be ‘Vikram 2,’ ‘Kaithi 2, ‘and maybe ‘Rolex.'” He also said that, “it’s a universe, right? So, we have the luxury of doing whatever type of film we want, such as a prequel or sequel, or whatever character we want. So, for the next ten years, I’m settled.” On the other hand, Kamal Haasan said that we have made a promise, so it is up to us to keep it.
About Suriya’s Rolex
Suriya made a cameo appearance in “Vikram” in the role of Rolex, the boss of Sandhanam, the main antagonist played by Vijay Sethupathi. The National Award-winning actor’s never-seen-before avatar as the cold-blooded Don completely won the hearts of the audience. The last-end of “Vikram” stated that the next face-off is going to be between the central character played by Kamal Haasan and Suriya’s character Rolex. Now, the new revelation of the actor-director duo has left moviegoers in deep excitement.
