The Delhi High Court on Friday dismissed Sushant Singh Rajput’s father’s (Krishna Kishore Singh) application, seeking to stop the release of Nyay:The Justice, a film based on the life of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
Rajput’s father had filed a plea sought to restrain anyone from using his son’s name or likeness in movie. He alleged that everyone is taking advantage of his son’s demise for publicity.
The bench of Justice Anup Jairam Bhambani and Jasmeet Singh said that there can be no violation of privacy as the information about demise of Sushant Singh Rajput was already available in public domain. Sushant Singh Rajput died by suicide on june 14, 2020. He was found hanging in his Bandra house, Maharashtra.
The Delhi HC on Wednesday sought to know whether movie Nyay:The Justice based on life of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, has been released as scheduled on june 11 after both the director of the film and the actor’s father gave contradictory statements.
Senior advocate Chander lal representing the film director told the court that the movie was released on the OTT( over the top) platform named Lapalap on june 11. The makers of the movie Nyay: The Justice told the HC that the film does not depict the late actor’s name or likeness as it is not a biopic on him.
Senior advocate Harsh Salve representing Singh , argued that the producer and the director of the film exploiting the life story of the late actor. He said the movie is going to infringe upon the right to privacy and the right to a fair trial and with each passing day, it is causing damage to the reputation of the actor.
Salve however said that, this is some obscure platform and only god knows what kind of website is this.
Nyay : The Justice film is directed by Dilip Gulati and produced by Sarla A. Saraogi and Rahul Sharma. The film features Zuber K. Khan and Shreya shukla in the lead roles, The film is being made under the banner of Vikas Productions.
Sushant Singh Rajput was known for his works in films like chhichore, MS dhoni The Untold Story, Detective Byomkesh Bakshy and many others.
