The Tamil film industry is in shock following the deaths of several important members, including director K. Vishwanath, actress Jamuna, actor E Ramadoss, Pariyerum Perumal, star Nellai Thangaraj, and singer Vani Jayaram. T.P. Gajendran, a veteran director transformed comedy actor, has died after a long illness, according to reports.
Gajendran made his debut in the 1988 film ‘Veedu Manaivi Makkal’ as an assistant director to the late renowned writer-director-actor Visu. He went on to direct fifteen more films, the most notable of which are ‘Enga Ooru Kavalkaran,’ ‘Pandi Naatu Thangam,’ ‘Enga Ooru Mappillai,’ ‘Budget Padmanaban,’ ‘Bandha Paramisivam,’ and ‘Nalla Kalam Porandachu’.
The busy chief minister paid a visit to Gajendran a few months ago and spent time with him. Stalin tried to rush to the dearly departed celebrity’s Saligramam home to pay his respects. He consoled the close relatives and expressed his sorrow, saying he had lost a dear friend.
Hundreds of people expressed their condolences after learning of the actor’s death, including Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin. Stalin stated in a statement, “I was deeply shocked to hear of the death of actor ‘Poo’ Ramu, who had won a place in the hearts of the inhabitants of Tamil Nadu through his film acting. Those with a progressive view will remember his contribution to bringing Leftist ideologies to the general public through street theatre.”
