Tamil Superstar Rajinikanth Says, “I Don’t Have Plans To Enter Politics In The Future,” Dissolved Rajini Makkal Mandram.

Recently on Monday Actor Rajnikanth said that he had no plans of entering politics and dissolved Rajini Makkal Mandram. He said, “I don’t have plans to enter politics in the future.” He announced that Rajini Makkal Mandram will be dissolved and the members will now continue doing public welfare activities through Rajinikanth Rasigar Narpani Mandram.

Legendary star Rajnikanth on Monday dissolved the Rajini Makkal Mandram (RMM), which was formed as a precursor to his political launch, and said that he does not have plans to enter politics in the future. Rajinikanth announced after meeting office bearers of RMM and fans at Chennai Kodambakkam Raghavendra Hall.

“After I announced that I won’t be entering politics, I was not able to meet Makkal Mandram office bearers or fans because Annaathe shooting got delayed, elections happened and later the pandemic broke out. Then, I went to the US for my medical check-up and came,” Rajnikanth said.             

“Due to circumstances, we couldn’t achieve what we thought. I have no intention of joining politics in the future. So, I have decided to dissolve the Rajini Makkal Mandram. The office-bearers of the Rajinikanth Makkal Mandram would continue to be part of the Rajinikanth Fan Club Association that will involve itself in public service,” the statement further said.

The superstar Rajinikanth had announced his entry into politics in 2017, at a time when Tamil Nadu faced a vacuum after the demise of AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa and ailing DMK chief M Karunanidhi.

At the 50th edition of the International Film Festival of India in 2019, he was honored with the Icon of Global Jubilee award. He is the second-highest grossing actor in Tamil cinema history, behind M. G. Ramachandran.
At the 67th National Film Awards, he was awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.

On 31 December 2017, he declared entry into politics and confirmed his intention to contest in the 2021 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections in all 234 constituencies.
