The gravity of the situation was such that her mother, the iconic actor Tanuja, was under the impression that her daughter had succumbed to the unfortunate turn of events. The incident marked a distressing chapter in Tanishaa Mukerji’s early career, leaving an indelible impact on both her and her mother.

Tanishaa Mukerji’s Shocking Revelation: Coma Inducing Accident During Debut Film Shoot

In a recent interview with Siddharth Kannan, Tanishaa Mukerji shared details about a traumatic incident that occurred during the filming of her debut movie, Sssshhh… in 2003. The accident was severe enough to result in the actor slipping into a coma, causing her mother, the legendary star Tanuja, to believe that Tanishaa had passed away.

Tanishaa, while recounting the incident, revealed, “I was unconscious. I had met with an accident during the shoot of Sssshhh… It was a bad accident. I had suffered a concussion, and during that concussion, I was unconscious for a certain amount of time.” This revelation sheds light on the gravity of the situation and the challenges Tanishaa faced during her early years in the film industry.

Presently, the former Jhalak Dikhla Jaa contestant struggles with amnesia regarding the accident. Despite attempting to visualize the incident in her mind, Tanishaa Mukerji has no recollection of those 3-4 days. She expressed, “I have no memory of those 3-4 days. Even today, I try to go back and visualize, but I can’t remember. It has blanked out from my life.” This reveals the lasting impact and the extent of the memory loss resulting from the traumatic experience.

During an episode of Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa, Tanishaa provided detailed insights into the accident. She recounted, “While shooting for my debut film Sssshhh… in Manali, I, along with Dino Morea, Gaurav Kapur, and our director Pavan S. Kaul, was traveling in a car. In Manali, the back tire skidded, resulting in the car toppling over. While everyone else sustained fractures on their hands, I fell outside the car and rolled underneath it, suffering a concussion.”

Adding to the account, she stated, “My mom was terrified, thinking I had died. I have no memory of the accident whatsoever.” Tanishaa’s narrative underscores the gravity of the incident and the significant impact it had on her and her family.

Tanishaa Mukerji’s Resilience: Completing Films Despite Doctors’ Advice and Transition to TV

Following the accident, doctors advised Tanishaa that she could no longer continue working. However, the producers of Sssshhh… insisted that she complete the film, even though the doctors had indicated otherwise. Tanishaa recalled, “Doctors told me a month after the accident that I couldn’t continue shooting, but the producers said the movie would be shelved if I didn’t shoot. It took a year for my concussion and the swelling in my brain to subside, but I completed the film.”

Despite her resilience, subsequent films like Neal ‘n’ Nikki, Sarkar, and Tango Charlie did not establish her position in the Hindi film industry. Consequently, Tanishaa shifted away from the silver screen. In 2013, she participated in the TV reality show Bigg Boss 7, where she emerged as the first runner-up. This marked a notable phase in her career transition from films to television.
