A trend has been set in Bollywood, if the film becomes a hit, then the script wins and if it fails, the whole situation is thrown into controversy. The latest name in the list of such films is Thank God. Ajay Devgn and Sidharth Malhotra starrer Thank God has not earned even 40 crores in 10 days. In such a situation, producer Deepak Mukut has now attributed the film’s flop to the controversy related to it.
Deepak Mukut said in an interview to HT that, ‘I hope the film will do more business than average. I also knew that this is not a blockbuster film, but a good film, a clean comedy that has the power to captivate the audience. We will impress the family audience. Thank God also had to face a lot of controversies. With the release of the trailer, a certain section of the society had objections regarding its content and character, after which the makers had to make changes in it. Talking on this, Deepak Mukut said, ‘Cinema is very subjective. Maybe one person likes the film and the other may not like it at all. Everyone has a different point of view.’
Continuing his point, Deepak Mukut said, ‘I don’t think there was any problem in the film. I think we made a good, clean comedy film but some people have different opinion about it and that’s okay too. Let us tell you that in ‘Thank God’, Ajay Devgan played the character of Lord Chitragupta, which people objected to. He accused the film of playing with his feelings.
Thank God competed with Akshay Kumar’s Ram Setu at the box office. Both the films released in theaters on October 25. The situation in Ram Setu is slightly better than Thank God, although both these films were subject to controversies. At the same time, both the films were not liked by the audience.
