As the Pakistani film The Legend Of Maula Jatt is gearing up for its release in India on December 30, 2022, netizens are digging out more and more reasons to call for its ban in the nation.
A certain section of Indian audience is strictly against the release of film because after 2016 URI attacks, the government of India had decided to not screen any of Pakistani films or shows in their country. It also banned Pakistani actors from working in Indian films. Now, social media users have highlighted another reason to cancel the release of The Legend Of Maula Jatt in India which has intensified the entire matter.
Some netizens have found out that The Legend Of Maula Jatt star Hamza Ali Abbasi had earlier voiced out his support for Hafiz Saeed who was the mastermind of 2008 Mumbai attacks which killed 166 Indians. Old tweets of the actor have surfaced where he could be heard praising the leader from Pakistan. Not only this, Abbasi is also seen declaring
that Hafiz Saeed is not a terrorist and his only fault is that he speaks for & rallies the youth for Kashmir.
Checkout his tweets in support of Hafiz Saeed:
Hamza, who plays the character of Noori Natt in the film, is now getting a tag of terrorist sympathiser, hypocrite and an active proponent of the divisive ‘Two Nation theory’ by social media users.
As far as the release of the Punjabi language film is concerned, Zee Studios will be distributing it in India. It will first release in Delhi-NCR and Punjab, followed by other parts of the country.
For the unversed, The Legend Of Maula Jatt is a remake of 1979 Pakistani cult classic ‘Maula Jatt.’ It stars Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, Hamza Ali Abbasi and Humaima Malick.
