The Women’s U19 Asia Cup 2024 is a groundbreaking tournament that brings together six teams from across Asia to compete for the title. Held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, this event will showcase the next generation of female cricketers, including powerhouse teams like India and Pakistan, as well as emerging teams such as Nepal and Malaysia. The inaugural Women’s U19 Asia Cup is set to take place in Malaysia from December 15 to 22, 2024. The tournament, organized by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), will feature six teams, divided into two groups of three. The matches will be played at the Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur.

 

In Group A, India, Pakistan, and Nepal have been drawn together, while Group B consists of Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and the hosts, Malaysia. The tournament will begin with the opening match between Malaysia and Sri Lanka on December 15, followed by the much-anticipated India vs. Pakistan clash later in the day. This India-Pakistan game is expected to draw a lot of attention due to the historic rivalry between the two teams, even at the U19 level.

 

 

The group stage will continue the following day, December 16, with Sri Lanka taking on Bangladesh, followed by Pakistan facing Nepal. The final group-stage matches will be held on December 17, with Bangladesh playing Malaysia, and India taking on Nepal. After the group stage, the top two teams from each group will progress to the Super Four stage, which will be held on December 19 and 20. The Super Four stage will determine which teams make it to the final, which will be played on December 22.

 

An important feature of the tournament is the fifth/sixth-place play-off, which will take place on December 18. This match will feature the third-placed teams from both groups, who will compete for positioning in the standings.

 

The Women’s U19 Asia Cup is a significant event for women’s cricket in Asia, providing young cricketers with a platform to showcase their skills on an international stage.
