At the 2024 BAFTA Tea Party, Phoebe Dynevor, the lead actress of Bridgerton seasons 1 and 2 reveals something interesting about her star mom. Her mother, the “Coronation Street” star, never gave Phoebe any acting advice. Sally Dynevor, her mother, is a famous personality on the British TV soap circuit.

Dynevors Taking Over the Telly

For the past 40 years, Sally has been a well-known face on British soaps. Her career began with ITV’s “Coronation Street” as Sally Metcalfe and her legacy continues with daughters Phoebe, and Hattie, who feature in BBC’s “Waterloo Road.” Even though the whole family has taken over the television, the daughters rarely get career advice from the 60-year-old seasoned actress.

They have always liked to keep work and personal life “pretty separate,” Phoebe Dynevor says at the event held in Beverly Hills, California. “We are actually doing such different things in the industry, but we all do follow by example,” she chimes in. The “Fair Play” actress emphasized, “I have always looked up to my mum and how she navigates being on a soap for so many years, and I think my sister does the same with me, hopefully!”

She is also self-aware of being labelled a “nepo kid” in the UK. “I know my privilege,” she says, since childhood, I had access to the sets and knew how things worked.” And yet, nothing could prepare her for her instant success once Bridgerton aired. “Having men waiting outside your house with cameras is super scary when you live on your own,” Dynevor says.

Fame with Bridgerton

Phoebe achieved overnight success when she appeared on Netflix’s “Bridgerton” as the innocent and sweet Daphne. Her portrayal as the naive lass who falls head over heels for the dashing Duke of Hastings captivated viewers’s attention. The show has completed 2 seasons and the third installment is to be released later this year. However, it is confirmed that Phoebe will not be a part of season 3 of Bridgerton.

Her current project “Fair Play” also revolves around a young couple, similar to Bridgerton. Another parallel is that similar to the Netflix hit, it focuses on the female gaze, which is long due in the mainstream industry. “It is why I gravitated towards the project. The female gaze is a privilege to share these very female stories,” she expresses.
