Tips to keep your hair smooth and manageable

When you see someone with long, luscious locks, it’s difficult not to be envious. Even more so when you learn that they were born with such beautiful hair while you are stuck with dull and rough hair. Hair that is frizzy, unmanageable, and lacklustre is common among Indian women. However, many women are unaware that this is a problem that can be resolved. Your hair, too, can turn heads with the right hair care routine in place.

How To Get Silky and Soft Hair?

Here are three methods which you can practice at home.

1.Spray with Aloe Vera

You’ll Require

2 tbsp Water Spray Bottle Aloe Vera Leaf Prep Time 5 minutes

5 minutes of treatment

Using a spoon, extract two tablespoons of gel from an aloe vera leaf. Make sure you’re only removing the clear gel, not the yellow.

This gel should be blended until it reaches a smooth consistency.

Mix in two tablespoons of water to the gel thoroughly.

Fill a spray bottle halfway with this liquid and shake vigorously.

After you’ve washed and dried your hair, spray it with the aloe vera solution.

Apply it to your hair as you would hairspray.

How frequently should you do it?

3 to 4 times per week

Why Does This Work?

Aloe vera is high in proteolytic enzymes, which help to repair damaged cells in your scalp (1). This allows it to boost hair growth and improve follicle health. This ingredient’s moisture content helps to hydrate and condition your hair throughout the day. This will give you a smooth texture with less frizz.

2.Massage with hot oil (coconut/olive oil)

You’ll Require

Hot Towel with 2-3 tbsp Coconut/Olive Oil

Time to prepare: 5 minutes

45 minutes of treatment

Take 2-3 tablespoons of your chosen oil and warm it for a few seconds until it is slightly warm (depending on the length of your hair).

Massage a small amount of warm oil into your scalp and down the length of your hair.

Massage your scalp for about 15 minutes before applying the oil and leaving it on for another 30 minutes.

While you wait, wrap your hair in a hot towel.

Use a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner to wash and condition your hair.

How frequently should you do it?

Once a week, twice a week, once a week, once a week

Why Does This Work?

A hot oil massage can aid hair growth by stimulating hair follicles. It is an effective deep conditioning treatment for your hair that also combats dandruff and itching. Coconut oil’s high triglyceride content helps to nourish your strands. It can also penetrate deep into your hair shafts for maximum nourishment. Olive oil is high in antioxidants, fatty acids, and vitamin E, all of which help to condition your hair and prevent and repair damage (2).

3.The curd

You’ll Require

1 cup yoghurt

2 tbsp Amla Powder 2 minutes to prepare

30 minutes of treatment

Combine the two ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.

These ingredients should be applied to your scalp and hair.

Leave the mask on for about 30 minutes once your hair is completely covered.

Use a sulfate-free shampoo to wash your hair.

Apply conditioner at the end.

How frequently should you do it?

1-2 times per week is sufficient.

Why Does This Work?

Curd is high in vitamins B5 and D, both of which are necessary for hair health. It works to strengthen your hair shafts from the inside out while also combating dandruff. This mask contains amla, which provides a vitamin C boost to your scalp and promotes hair growth.
