The Brazilian leg of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour has turned into a nightmare for both the fans and the singer, with three fans losing their lives either before or after attending her show.
Tragic Incidents Cast Shadow Over Taylor Swift’s Brazilian Tour
According to the Brazilian news service Fala Brazil, a 23-year-old fan died near the Engenhao Stadium. The fire department has confirmed finding the fan unconscious and in a state of respiratory arrest.
Despite being taken to the hospital for care, the fan did not survive.
Police authorities have not yet released any further revelations about the fan’s identity.
This incident is not the first of its kind.
On November 17, 2023, Ana Benevides, a 23-year-old, passed away before Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour performance at the Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos in Rio de Janeiro. She reportedly collapsed due to high temperature, with claims of going into cardiac arrest. However, the cause of death is yet to be revealed.
After Ana’s death, Taylor took to Instagram to express her sorrow over the tragic incident. She wrote, “I can’t believe I’m writing these words, but it is with a shattered heart that I announce we lost a fan earlier tonight before my show. I am devastated beyond words. The little information I have reveals she was incredibly beautiful and tragically young. Overwhelmed by grief, I won’t be able to address this from the stage. I want to say now that I feel this loss deeply, and my broken heart goes out to her family and friends. This is the last thing I ever thought would happen when we decided to bring this tour to Brazil.”
Wave of Tragedy Continues: Second Fan Fatally Stabbed After Taylor Swift’s Concert
Hours after attending Taylor’s show at the Nilton Santos Olympic Stadium, a second fan, Gabriel Milhomem Santos, suffered a fatal stabbing while resting on Copacabana beach on Sunday morning, November 19, 2023.
In the aftermath of these two tragic deaths, Taylor became emotional as she sang her song ‘goodbye, goodbye’ in tribute to her deceased fans.
Respiratory problems during the concerts are attributed to rising temperatures and heat. However, specific reasons for the fans’ deaths are still under investigation.
