Triptii Dimri Exit From Next Kartik Aaryan Starrer Rumours: Anurag Basu Breaks Silence

Director Anurag Basu has refuted speculation surrounding actress Triptii Dimri’s departure from his upcoming film, which was initially titled Aashiqui 3. Following reports that Dimri would no longer star alongside Kartik Aaryan in the romantic drama, rumours surfaced on social media suggesting that she was removed due to concerns about her “image” being too exposed for the role.

However, Basu has categorically denied these claims. In an interview with HT City, he stated that her image was never a concern. “I am the last person to judge an actor based on their past roles,” he said, addressing the speculation that the female lead needed to embody “purity in demeanor.”

Basu clarified that the film’s title had changed and that it was no longer part of the Aashiqui franchise. He also revealed that the shoot was set to begin that month, though the final title had yet to be decided. The female lead had not been confirmed, but an official announcement was expected within the week.

On Dimri’s exit, Basu attributed the decision to scheduling conflicts. “The most important factor was the clash of dates,” he explained, noting that Dimri was committed to a project with director Vishal Bhardwaj while his film was also slated to begin production.

Emphasising that there was no fallout, Basu stated that Dimri remained a close friend and someone he deeply admired as an actress. “She is my best friend. You should ask her as well,” he added, suggesting that the media seek her perspective on the situation.

With the film’s leading lady yet to be finalized, industry insiders eagerly await the official announcement.
