Actress Triptii Dimri, who gained significant recognition for her supporting role in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal, has been the subject of both praise and criticism since the film’s release. While Animal marked a breakthrough in her career, transitioning her from lead roles in smaller films to mainstream success, some viewers expressed disappointment with her portrayal. Despite the mixed reactions, Triptii remains unfazed and is focused on taking on diverse and challenging roles in her acting career.
In a candid conversation with Forbes India, Triptii addressed the scrutiny she faced for her roles in Animal and Bad Newz, emphasizing her dedication to delivering authentic performances. “I am someone who wants to give 100 percent. If I find the character or the story interesting, I want to give my all. That’s what I’ve learned—if it works, it works, and if it doesn’t, it doesn’t,” she explained. “You can’t keep all that noise in mind. There will be people who like you, and some who won’t. You have to follow your heart and do things that you feel are right.”
Reflecting on her decision to take on the role of Zoya in Animal, Triptii said she was eager to challenge herself with something different from her previous roles. “Zoya was very different from anything I’d played before,” she said, adding that she seeks out roles that push her as an actor. Her portrayal of Vidya in Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video alongside Rajkummar Rao was another example of her commitment to taking on difficult roles. “Comedy is very difficult for me, and I think most actors would agree with this. It’s important to go on set and be nervous. The day your nervousness goes away, that’s when you are in danger,” she noted, highlighting how she continuously seeks roles that make her feel challenged.
Triptii also addressed rumours suggesting she was attempting to move away from an “overtly sexualized” image, explaining that she takes an organic approach to choosing roles. “I don’t want to show up and think, ‘I know this.’ I want to feel challenged,” she said, emphasizing her desire to stay engaged and passionate about her work.
Recently, there were rumours that Triptii was dropped from Aashiqui 3 because she was “too exposed. ” Some claimed the makers sought an actress with a more “pure” demeanour. However, director Anurag Basu dismissed the claims, clarifying to Mid-Day, “That’s not true, and Triptii knows it too.”
As Triptii continues to navigate her career, she remains focused on her craft, prioritizing growth, challenge, and authenticity above all else.
