The female-centric heist comedy “Crew,” which stars Tabu, Diljit Dosanjh, Kareena Kapoor, and Kriti Sanon, has received favourable feedback from reviewers and spectators. Among the cast, Trupti Khamkar, who portrayed a cop in the film, has been particularly praised for her remarkable performance.
Overcoming Challenges On The Set
In an exclusive interview, Khamkar revealed her unique challenges during the filming process. She often had only 30 minutes to complete her scenes, usually after the lead actors had finished their work and left the set. Despite these constraints and the lack of scripted lines, Khamkar delivered a memorable performance.
In a candid interview, she said:
“When you are working with a star cast, it is obvious that first their work will be done, and they will go home. Then your work will start. So many times, it used to happen that in a 12-hour shift, all the cameras were on them. I stood there, memorizing my lines, and then they would leave. Then, there would be the last half-hour of the shift left, and I was told, ‘Trupti, how much work has been done today for the film? Do it in half an hour.’ Then I was like, ‘Alright, I’ll do it.'”
She further mentioned; “I think that was a great learning process. I have a master’s degree in theatre, but that learning won’t help. The training you receive on set is different. You have to keep an eye on which scenes you are in throughout the day. People won’t give you lines. You have to see how the other people delivered their lines and then decide how to reply to them similarly. After Crew, I feel I can work on any challenging set because I have been trained through this film.”
Learning From The Experience
Khamkar viewed the challenges she faced on the set of ‘Crew’ as a valuable learning opportunity. She had to adapt quickly, memorizing her lines and preparing for her scenes within a minimal timeframe. This experience, she believes, has prepared her for any tough film in the future.
