Tusshar Kapoor Embraces New Stories, Experimental Roles In OTT Debut With ‘Dunk”

"Tusshar Kapoor Ventures into Gray-Shaded Role for OTT Debut in 'Dunk'"

Tusshar Kapoor, known for being funny, is about to make his digital debut with the new OTT show Dunk. “The passion with which the producer Prerna Arora and the director Abhishek Jaiswal told the story was palpable,” the actor says. The whole team have been excited about this project, and the story immediately interested me with its mix of drama, crime, and an important social message.

Tusshar Kapoor’s First Appearance On OTT

The 47-year-old says this about his character: “It’s a gray-shaded, real, and unique character for me.” What drew me to it was that it was outside my comfort zone. As I’ve never played a lawyer before, playing one excites me. I can’t wait to explore this new area.

He also says that he wants to write about more diverse people in the future, which goes against the idea that he is a comic book artist. The roles I’m playing now are all different and don’t fit that typical comedic part. While Kapoor isn’t actively seeking non-comic roles, he says, “When something like this comes up, I really challenge myself to do it.”

He also says, “It really opens up newer avenues, like what happened with Khakhee, Short In The City, or the Shootout series; it took me out of my comfort zone and people noticed something very very different.”

I will always love and appreciate the comedic parts because they have brought me a lot of attention. That won’t change; I look up to and look forward to those roles. I want to push myself and do something different every once in a while.

What Tusshar Kapoor Said About OTT

Even though OTT platforms are changing, Tusshar Kapoor makes his digital start by focusing on the platform’s ability to accept new stories and experimental storytelling. People who watch shows on Netflix and other streaming services are more open to artists changing their roles. He says, “It’s not so much about how many people will watch it as it is about how well the characters are portrayed on the OTT screen.”
