The assassination of Congress leader and Punjab singer Sidhu Moose Wala has triggered a major political tiff in the country, with the opposition questioning the AAP government’s decision to remove the singer’s security cover, despite he  is a celebrity in the music industry.

Richa Chadha has questioned the increased security surrounding gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, a key suspect in the murder of rapper Sidhu Moose Wala. Richa questioned why the criminal, who is currently being held in Delhi’s Tihar Jail in a separate case, is given high security on his court appearances while Sidhu is only given two guards.

Sidhu was killed by unidentified assailants on May 29 in Punjab’s Mansa district, a day after the state government reduced his security cover.

Richa took to Twitter on Tuesday to express her dissatisfaction with the disparity in Lawrence and Sidhu’s security. She wrote in Punjabi, “Moosewale nu 2 guard te Lawrence Bishnoi nu 10 di remand, naale bodyguards te Dilli pulis di sab tonne vadiya dangerous bullet proof gaddi” (Moose Wala was given only two guards, while Lawrence Bishnoi was given ten, in addition to the best and most dangerous bulletproof car of Delhi Police). She followed it up with a broken heart emoji and the hashtag #JusticeForSidhuMoosaWala.

Fans of Sidhu expressed gratitude to Richa for her support and expressed their desire for justice for the late singer. As one fan put it, “Thank you so much for your help, Ji. Huge admiration!” “You are completely correct,” said another in response to her tweet.

Richa had repeatedly expressed his shock at Sidhu’s death and expressed sympathy to his mother. She’d posted on Twitter, “Numb and shocked by the murder of #SiddhuMoosewala. No words will suffice. Thinking of his mother… losing a child is the worst kind of pain in the world. Jatt da muqabla that mainu kitthe? 28! (Does a Jatt have a match?)”

Police are currently investigating Lawrence Bishnoi for his role in Sidhu’s death. In the meantime, he was questioned in connection with a threat letter sent to actor Salman Khan. His involvement was speculated due to the letter’s initial LB, but he insisted that he had no involvement.
