Udit Narayan Escapes Unharmed After His Mumbai Residential Complex Catches Fire
A devastating fire erupted in the B wing of Sky Pan, a 13-storey residential building in Andheri’s Oberoi Complex, around 10 pm on Monday. The building houses renowned Bollywood playback singer Udit Narayan, who resides on the 11th floor of the A wing.
The blaze, which reportedly began due to a suspected short circuit, engulfed a flat in the B wing, leading to the death of a 75-year-old resident, Rahul Mishra, and injuries to another occupant, Raunak Mishra, aged 38. Both were rushed to Kokilaben Hospital after suffering from severe suffocation. While Rahul was declared “brought dead,” Raunak was discharged against medical advice following initial treatment.

Singer Recounts Harrowing Experience
Udit Narayan, who safely evacuated the building along with other residents, expressed gratitude for escaping unharmed. “The fire broke out around 9 pm in B wing. We were on the premises for nearly three to four hours. It was extremely dangerous, and anything could have happened,” Narayan said. He praised the fire department’s efforts in extinguishing the fire, which was doused after a nearly four-hour operation at 1:49 am on Tuesday.
“This incident has shaken me mentally. It’s one thing to hear about such tragedies, but being in the middle of one is terrifying and painful,” he added.
Details of the Fire
The fire was confined to the electric wiring, installations, and household items in the duplex flat where it originated. Five residents, including domestic staff, were present in the flat at the time of the incident, with three managing to escape unhurt.
Fire brigade officials highlighted challenges in the operation, citing a non-functional firefighting system and the poor condition of the internal staircase in the affected duplex flat. The exact cause of the fire is under investigation.
