Samantha Ruth Prabhu, who made heads turn with her sultry number “Oo antava” from “Pushpa,” reveals she is scared of her sexuality. The south star got pan-India recognition for her portrayal as Raji in the web series “The Family Man 2.” Recently, she opened up at an event about how she was always a bit under confident. Besides, she was scared to perform the raunchy item song with Allu Arjun for the film Pushpa.

Was Shaking with Fear

At the Delhi event for India Today, Samantha spoke about her inhibitions. Particularly, while shooting for the chartbuster, she was quite nervous. The box office hit delivered a national award to Allu Arjun for the best actor category. As she grooved for the song beside the Telugu star, she was literally shaking.

Samantha was a surprise choice for the raunchy song, even for her! The “Shakuntalam” actress dealt with self-doubt and had been uncomfortable with her sexuality. Sam says that since childhood, she had confidence issues. “Sexy is not my thing,” she begrudges. “I am not like the other girls, I don’t look like them,” she said, giving us a glimpse of how deep-seated her fears are.

No Godfathers in the Industry

The beautiful and talented actress entered the South film industry without any background or godfather, so to speak. She stunned one and all with her first film “Em Maya Chesave” in Telugu opposite Akkineni Naga Chaitanya, whom she later married. Majili, Theri, The Family Man, and U-Turn are some of her most noted films and web shows.

Even with all her self-esteem troubles, Samantha Ruth Prabhu is a strong believer in jumping headfirst into the unknown and discovering new sides to herself. “If there is a mountain in front of me, I need to climb it.” She also recalled learning the tricks of the trade in her early days. The fact that she made it big without any godfather shows her mettle and dedication.

Samantha Is ‘Slaying Her Demons’

Sam is suffering from an auto-immune condition called Myositis. The diagnosis about her illness came out during her divorce from Telugu actor Naga Chaitanya. She terms herself “a fighter and survivor” at the Conclave 2024, as she recalled  about the time she got steroid treatments for 5 months. When she revealed her health condition, people called her “sympathy queen.”

“Need to make mistakes, learn from them and own my gut instincts,” Samantha said about her challenges. “I have grown both as an actor and as a person… I put myself in the most difficult circumstances and fight to overcome them… I am slaying these demons.”

After a long break, she quickly bounced back with the hit film “Khushi,” starring Vijay Devarakonda. The film was released in Hindi and 4 southern languages. Samantha is currently working for “Citadel,” the Indian version of the US spy thriller with Varun Dhawan in the lead. Recently, there was news of alleged misinformation about liver health in Samantha’s podcast
