Actor Sonu Sood has responded to the non-bailable warrant issued against him by a Ludhiana court in connection with a fraud case. The warrant was issued by Ludhiana Judicial Magistrate Ramanpreet Kaur. The actor took to social media on Friday morning to address the situation and clarify his position.
Sonu Sood explained that he had been summoned as a witness in a case unrelated to him, emphasizing that he had no involvement in the matter. He also condemned the media for sensationalising the issue. “We need to clarify that the news circulating on social media platforms is highly sensationalised,” Sood wrote on his X account. “To put matters straight, we were summoned as a witness by the Honourable Court in a matter pertaining to a third party to which we have no association or affiliation.”
Sood further assured his followers that his legal team had already responded to the summons, and he would provide a statement in court on February 10, 2025, to reaffirm his lack of involvement. “Our lawyers have responded, and on 10th February 2025, we will give a statement that clarifies our non-involvement in the matter,” he added.
The actor concluded his statement by expressing frustration over how celebrities are often targeted in such cases for media attention. “We are neither brand ambassadors nor are we associated in any way. This is just for unnecessary media attention to grab eyeballs. It is sad that celebs become soft targets. We will take strict action in this matter,” Sood said.
The court’s order, which was issued earlier, directed the officer-in-charge of Oshiwara Police Station, Andheri West, Mumbai, to arrest Sood. The order stated that Sood had been served summons or warrants but failed to attend or avoid service, resulting in the issuance of an arrest order.
The next hearing of the case is scheduled for February 10, where the actor is expected to clear up the matter.
On the professional front, Sonu Sood was recently seen in Fateh, an action thriller that also marked his directorial debut.
