Television personality and actor Uorfi Javed has taken to social media to condemn an oral hygiene brand, Perfora, for allegedly asking her to strip for a promotional campaign. The actor, known for her bold fashion choices, shared screenshots of the conversation, expressing her disappointment and calling the request invasive and inappropriate.
In her Instagram Stories, Uorfi revealed the exchange in which Perfora asked her if she was “open to strip,” a request that she found highly unprofessional. She shared her frustration with her followers, writing, “This is crossing every line imaginable @perforaofficial. In all my experiences with brands, I’ve never encountered something so invasive. My team will be reaching out. Prepare yourself for the consequences.”
The actor emphasized the importance of professional boundaries in the industry and stated that she was unwilling to comply with such demands. Uorfi’s outrage quickly gained attention, sparking an online conversation about the nature of marketing and the treatment of influencers.
In response to the backlash, Perfora posted a detailed message on their official Instagram handle, expressing regret for the misunderstanding. The company clarified, “We want to clarify that our intention was never to offend anyone. Our goal was simply to collaborate, but unfortunately, the conversation appears to have been misinterpreted.” They acknowledged the criticism, stating that they were taking time to address the situation and promised to provide more information by December 12, 2024.
The statement further explained, “Over the last three years, we have painstakingly built this brand with immense passion. As most of you know, we are a purpose-driven and ethically guided brand. Some have called this a ‘cheap marketing stunt,’ but we don’t believe in doing anything cheap. Marketing or not, please rest assured that we would never say anything inappropriate to anyone.”
The incident has sparked widespread discussions online, with many users supporting Uorfi for standing firm against what she described as an unreasonable request. Critics have voiced concern over the treatment of influencers and the lines that some brands are willing to cross in pursuit of attention.
On the work front, Uorfi Javed was last seen in the Prime Video series Follow Kar Lo Yaar, where she showcased her acting talent alongside her known social media presence.
