Bollywood actress Kirti Kulhari is currently promoting her latest project, Hisaab Barabar, and in a recent interview with Bollywood Bubble, she opened up about her decision to cut her hair short and the unexpected reactions that followed. Kulhari, known for her versatile roles in films like Pink, Uri: The Surgical Strike, and the popular web series Four More Shots Please!, explained how her simple hairstyle change sparked an online controversy.

Kulhari clarified that her decision to cut her hair was not meant to start a trend or make any statement; it was simply something that felt right to her at the time. “I received messages from women saying I inspired them to cut their hair too, which really surprised me. It’s amazing how such a small thing can have a big impact,” she shared.

However, the actress also addressed the more controversial side of her hair change. When asked about the societal pressure she faced around the decision, Kulhari recalled receiving comments from people who assumed she was going to come out as a lesbian just because of her new hairstyle. “The day I wrapped up the Hisaab Barabar shoot, I went home and chopped my hair off. Suddenly, I started getting comments suggesting that I was about to come out as a lesbian—just because of my hair,” she said. She added, “If I have long hair, I’m not a lesbian, but the moment I cut it, people assume I am? It’s funny how people view your actions through their own lens.”

Kulhari expressed amusement at how attached society is to certain stereotypes and labels, particularly when it comes to women’s appearance. She noted the absurdity of how a simple haircut could trigger such assumptions.

On the professional front, Kirti Kulhari’s current project, Hisaab Barabar, is generating significant buzz. Directed by Ashwni Dhir, the film stars R. Madhavan and Neil Nitin Mukesh alongside Kulhari. The story revolves around a railway ticket checker who uncovers discrepancies in minor bank transactions, leading him to expose deeper systemic corruption. Hisaab Barabar is now streaming on ZEE5, offering audiences a thrilling ride into the world of financial mismanagement.

Kulhari, who made her Bollywood debut in 2010 with Khichdi: The Movie, continues to build a strong presence in both films and digital platforms, establishing herself as a versatile and socially aware actress.
