The drama on Bigg Boss 19 started on day one, thanks to contestant Tanya Mittal. The influencer and entrepreneur’s bold remarks about demanding respect and her tight security have already made her a target for online backlash, with many comparing her to Bollywood actor Urvashi Rautela and labeling her as “delusional.”
The controversy began when Tanya interjected a conversation between two other contestants, Kunickaa and Mridul, saying, “Mujhe toh ma’am bolo, mujhe boss hi bolte hain sab log (Call me ma’am, everyone calls me boss anyway).” She explained that she wants respect now, not when she’s 50, and believes “girls have to take it by putting pressure.”
Tanya continued to flaunt her lifestyle in another conversation, telling fellow contestants Ashnoor Kaur, Nagma Mirajkar, and Zeishaan Qadri that she travels with bodyguards. When Zeishaan joked about bodyguards’ loyalty, Tanya quickly shut him down, boasting, “My bodyguards saved 100 people in Kumbh Mela, even saved police.”
“She is so delusional”
The comments did not sit well with internet users. Many were quick to criticize her seemingly narcissistic behavior, with one user writing, “Urvashi Rautela 2.0.” Another commenter called her “self-obsessed and egoistic,” while others described her as “delusional,” “full of herself,” and a “total pick me.”
In a past interview with Hindustan Times, Tanya had revealed that she travels with four Personal Security Officers (PSOs) and two cars. She also said she brought nine suitcases into the Bigg Boss house, hinting that she won’t be changing her luxurious lifestyle for the show.
Tanya’s Achievement and Bigg Boss 19 Twist
Tanya’s controversial statements weren’t limited to her security. She also told comedian Pranit More that she considers it an “achievement” to be on the show without having to compromise her culture or dress like other actors. “Female actors have to do a lot of things… wear those types of clothes. But I reached here without doing any of these things,” she said.
In the premiere episode, host Salman Khan announced a major twist under this season’s unique theme, “Gharwalon Ki Sarkar.” Contestant Farhana Bhatt was voted out but was secretly moved to a “secret room” by Bigg Boss, giving the contestants the power of decision-making.
