Bollywood actor Urvashi Rautela recently opened up about the controversial leaked bathroom scene from her 2024 film Ghuspaithiya. In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, the actor disclosed that the video’s release on social media platforms was pre-approved by her and carried out intentionally by the film’s makers due to financial struggles.
Speaking about the incident, Urvashi described Ghuspaithiya as an “amazing film” and shared how the makers approached her in desperation. She claimed they were in significant debt and on the brink of financial ruin. “They had some debt and were caught up in loans,” she said. “They even had to let go of their land and were almost on the streets.” According to Urvashi, the makers came to her business team seeking permission to release the scene as a promotional move to garner attention for the film.
The actor elaborated that the bathroom scene was not something extraordinary but a part of the movie itself. “They requested if they could release it early. It was also intended to create awareness, especially for girls to be cautious,” Urvashi said, justifying the decision to leak the scene.
About Ghuspaithiya
Ghuspaithiya, directed by Susi Ganesan, is a Hindi remake of the Tamil film Thiruttu Payale 2 (2017). The crime drama, released on August 9, 2024, stars Urvashi Rautela, Vineet Kumar Singh, Govind Namdev, and Akshay Oberoi in pivotal roles. Despite the controversy surrounding the leaked scene, the film garnered attention for its gripping narrative.
Recent Projects
Urvashi was last seen in Daaku Maharaaj, which features Nandamuri Balakrishna and Bobby Deol alongside her. The film, despite criticism for Urvashi’s performance, particularly in the song Dabidi Dibidi, proved to be a box office hit, earning over ₹100 crore globally within four days of its release. Directed by Bobby Kohli, the action-drama also stars Shraddha Srinath and Prakash Raj in significant roles.
While Urvashi’s statement has sparked mixed reactions, it sheds light on the lengths filmmakers might go to promote their projects amid financial constraints.
