“Abuse is the improper usage or treatment of a thing often to unfairly or improperly gain benefit. Abusing can come in many forms like physical, verbal, assault, rape etc.… VERBAL ABUSE occurs when someone repeatedly uses negative or demeaning words to gain or maintain power or control over someone”

Till now I used to think that verbal abuse means to say bad words .But recently while watching a video I came to know that it also include yelling, put-downs, name- calling and belittling behaviors. It can be in any kind of relationship- parents- children, romantic partners, bosses- employees, but most commonly  married-unmarried couples.

When people come in a relationship they get in ugly fights but there is a point when they say whatever they feel but always there is a very thin sliver line crossing which means disrespecting their partner, they start taking their partners for granted .according to them verbal abusing is not the big deal and they have not done anything wrong, it’s their partners who have provoked them to abuse.

People who actually wants to make it work  make excuses for the behavior of the abuser, this is the point when other person thinks that he is in upper place in their relation and his partner is weak . It becomes a common way of communication. it’s like the first step of abuse ladder. only inferiority complex person use verbal abuse as a weapon.

Verbal abuse exits in several forms. it can be harder to recognize .There are no traces or damage of verbal abuse. It will attack mentally, emotionally to the victim so there are some of the verbal abuses-

BLAMING– this makes the victim believe that they are responsible for the abusive behavior of the abuser, mostly when things are not according to certain people, they need someone to blame.

NAME-CALLING– the most common example of this is bullying whether at workplace or college or school.

JUDGING-when the victim is judged for who he or she is like body shaming or religion etc.

This all has a great impact on the victim. It adversely affects their academic performance, relationships, work balance . It can lead to mental health problems like depression, anxiety, change in mood, low confidence, self-esteem. But the best way to overcome is to recognize it first and to decide which relation is healthy and which is toxic

But before all this one have to be strong from inside and try to cope up with this because its only you who can help yourself . It is not a big deal for society if you are being verbally abused unlike physical or sexual abuse.
