Vidya Balan Recalls Crying After Receiving Harsh Comment On Body Weight, ‘Phir Se Put On Kar Liya’

Bollywood actress Vidya Balan who has proved her acting mettle in films often opens up on facing criticism during her early days. Now, in a recent interview with lifestyle coach, Luke Coutinho, the actress once again spoke on the distressing comments she received for her body weight. She recalled an incident which left her teary-eyed.

Vidya recollects an unpleasant incident

Sharing how certain incidents have been really upsetting, Vidya said that a few days back, she went to get a body massage done, and the masseuse suddenly passed a comment on her body weight. She asked the actress if she had put on weight again. Vidya got so hurt that she straightaway told the lady not to comment on her body as she didn’t like it.

The actress added, “Firstly, it’s a very intimate space. I trusted the masseuse to get my body massage done. I’m not here for her to sit and judge my body. I am here so that she can actually calm my nerves, like make me feel better.”

Vidya mentioned that she was so affected by this remark when she met her husband, she actually burst into tears. The actress quoted, “I was like, ‘Why do people have to do this?’ It’s insensitive. I just couldn’t wrap my head around it. Because I’ve had a very hectic week and was exhausted. I was looking forward to this massage. And within the first 10 minutes, this happened. Then I just couldn’t relax.”

Vidya further said that she used to hate her body for a long time before finally learning to accept and love it the way it is. To avoid reading negativity in her life, she keeps away from reading comments on social media or any newspapers.

Personally, Vidya is married to the MD and Founder of Roy Kapur Films, Siddharth Roy Kapur. Professionally, she is serving as a member of the Indian Central Board of Film Certification.
