Vidya Malavade, who portrayed Vidya Sharma in the 2007 film Chak De India, recently shared some heartwarming memories from the sets. She revealed that the girls’ team would affectionately call Shah Rukh Khan’ papa’ behind his back. This nickname was not just a term of endearment but a reflection of their deep respect and admiration for him.
Shah Rukh Khan: A Guiding Light
Shah Rukh Khan, known for his charisma and charm, was more than just a co-star to the girls’ team. He was a guiding light, always ready to help the young and inexperienced actresses with their scenes. He often went out of his way to ensure everyone was comfortable and understood their roles perfectly.
She said:
“SRK is always very warm and welcoming. At the time when we were shooting ‘Chak De India’, he was always very nice. Most of the girls were rather new, young, and had no idea about the camera setup, and he would always be there. One thing that one takes away from him is his generosity, as an actor as well in front of the camera. It’s not just about him, it’s about everyone around him as well. He believes that a film is never about one person, it has to be about the team.
He would always guide us during the shoot, he always did that with all of us which is why we used to call him ‘Papa’ behind his back. It was a girls’ thing because he was playing our coach and in general, you have so much respect for a coach, he was like a father figure, and also he was very sweet. We would know that he is on the set, we would follow his perfume, and we would be like ‘Okay Papa is coming on set’. He always smelt so fresh and nice.”
Shah Rukh Khan’s Unmatched Energy
Shah Rukh Khan’s energy was infectious. Even after long shooting hours, he would still have the energy to party with the girls’ team. Vidya Malavade admires his zest for life and work and wishes to imbibe it. His enthusiasm and passion were contagious, inspiring everyone on the set.
The Impact Of Chak De India
‘Chak De India’ was not merely a film but a transformative journey that left an enduring imprint on everyone involved. The camaraderie and connection the cast shared off-screen were beautifully translated on-screen, catapulting the film to immense success. The film garnered accolades and etched a profound memory in the audience’s hearts, a testament to its lasting impact.
