Vidyut Jammwal’s Fans Accuse Bollywood Of Wasting His Potential After Hollywood Debut

Actor Vidyut Jammwal is gaining significant momentum on both the national and international fronts, prompting his fans to voice their frustration with the Bollywood film industry. Following the box office success of his Tamil film Madharaasi and the announcement of his casting in the Hollywood live-action adaptation of Street Fighter, many fans have accused Bollywood of failing to utilise his true potential.

Online criticism has been widespread, with a viral Instagram meme featuring Vidyut from Madharaasi captioned, “Bollywood failed to use this man’s potential.” Similarly, a foreign fan on Twitter praised his look for Street Fighter, to which an Indian fan replied, “Only if the Indian film industry knew its own true potential, but instead they are pumping out mid movies year after year.” Vidyut himself seemingly agreed with the sentiment by sharing these posts on his Instagram Stories, along with several others that praised his work.

Madharaasi, directed by AR Murugadoss, has been a runaway success, earning ₹44 crore net in India in just five days. The film, which stars Sivakarthikeyan in the lead with Vidyut as the antagonist, marks Vidyut’s return to South cinema after several years.

His role as the popular yogi character Dhalsim in the new Street Fighter reboot will mark his Hollywood debut. The film, directed by Kitao Sakurai, features a strong lineup of Hollywood elite, including Noah Centineo, Jason Momoa, Andrew Koji, Roman Reigns, and Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson.
