Actor Vikrant Massey has finally addressed the remarks made by his “Haseen Dillruba” co-star, Taapsee Pannu, regarding the film’s male lead. In a recent interview with NDTV, Vikrant responded to Taapsee’s comment from 2021, where she downplayed the importance of the male lead, saying, “who played the hero didn’t matter in the film.” Vikrant, however, took the comment in stride, stating that he doesn’t take such opinions personally.
When asked about his recent film “12th Fail”—which garnered praise despite not being led by a major Bollywood star—Vikrant was reminded of Taapsee’s earlier remark about “Haseen Dillruba”. He responded candidly, “Honestly, I don’t take offence to these things. It is true that “12th Fail” didn’t have a massive star.” Vikrant acknowledged the mixed commercial reception of his previous films, explaining that he hadn’t yet enjoyed a major solo box-office hit, but that the feedback for his performances remained positive.
Vikrant expressed understanding of the context behind Taapsee’s words, emphasizing the need to “agree to disagree” in a world increasingly divided by conflicting opinions, particularly in the realm of social media. He added, “Unfortunately, in social media and in life, we are seeing how friendships are being broken due to differing political ideologies and tolerance capacities. You just can’t seem to agree to disagree anymore. That is disturbing.”

Taapsee’s original statement was made during a roundtable discussion in 2021, where she revealed that the identity of the male lead didn’t matter to her while taking up “Haseen Dillruba”. “I was like, ‘Dude, it’s “Haseen Dillruba” I don’t care about who the hero is,” she had said, hinting that others had passed on the role because they were concerned about the male co-star.
