All You Need To Know About Viral Online Puzzles Wordle And Mathler!

If you’ve seen little green and yellow squares all over your Facebook and Instagram feeds recently and wondered what they could be, you’ve probably stumbled upon Wordle– the viral word puzzle game that has taken the Internet by storm!

What exactly is Wordle and how do you play it?

Wordle operates on a simple concept. Each day, the game developers release one mystery 5-letter word and players get six attempts to guess it. The tiles change colour to help you get the word. If the tile turns grey, it means that letter is not in today’s word. A yellow tile means the letter is in the word but is in the wrong position. If the tile turns green, it means it is in the word AND in the right place. When you guess the entire word, all the tiles turn green! You can play it for free on the NY Times website. Play Wordle here!

What makes the game so addictive is the fact that it is just a 5-minute distraction once a day, and that the entire world gets the same word at the same time!

A puzzle for Maths geeks!

If words are not really your thing, and you’d rather spend your coffee break exercising your Mathematical brain, there’s also Mathler, which swaps letters for numbers and operations. Unlike Wordle, Mathler gives you the answer right at the beginning. The challenge is to come up with the equation that will lead to the answer using digits 0-9 and the four basic operations (=, -, *, /). It can be slightly harder than Wordle, especially if you’re not great with numbers. Check out your Mathler skills!

You need a combination of luck and logic to get the right answer to the puzzle in either case. Are you a wordsmith or a numbers nerd? Join the rest of the world in its madness and show us your superpower!
