Bollywood actress Saiyami Kher might not have made it big in the films, but she has proven her acting mettle on digital platform. Like other outsiders, the actress too had her share of struggles to make a mark in the world of acting. Initially, Saiyami had to tolerate a lot of judgements on her looks. In a recent Instagram video, she talked about dealing with “toxic beauty standards” that have been there in the entertainment industry for long.
Opening up on her experience of getting judged physically, the actress told that she was asked to get a lip job and a nose job done. She found it as a very wrong advice to give to 18-year-old. It was like the society is cooperating and accepting your real self. But you don’t fit the norms set by the industry. Saiyami asserted that she did not get bothered by these norms, but she really hopes they completely disappear from our industry. She said there needs to be acceptance for diversity in showbiz.
Furthermore, the actress credited her friends and family for helping her face these challenges. She said she was very fortunate to have them around her as they embraced and supported her.
Concluding her clip, Saiyami acknowledged the positive changes that she is witnessing in the industry. She is glad that people in this field are taking baby steps and that things are getting better.
Workwise, Saiyami Kher debuted in Bollywood with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s ‘Mirziya’ in 2016. She has worked in other critically acclaimed projects like ‘Choked’, ‘Special OPS’, ‘Breathe: Into The Shadows’ and ‘Faadu’. Saiyami will appear next seen in ‘Ghoomer’ alongside Abhishek Bachchan.
