‘Was Depressed, Hurt’: Esha Deol Addresses Drug Use Accusations, Calls Them Baseless

False accusations can be deeply damaging, leaving individuals feeling betrayed and unsure of how to respond. Actor Esha Deol recently revisited a difficult chapter of her life, opening up about baseless rumours that falsely accused her of drug use.

In the early 2010s, reports began circulating that Esha was experimenting with drugs, with some publications even speculating about her admission to rehab. The rumours left the actor shocked and distressed, as the allegations were entirely untrue.

Esha addressed these claims in Ram Kamal Mukherjee’s biography Hema Malini: Beyond the Dream Girl, which chronicles the life of her mother, veteran actor Hema Malini. Recalling the ordeal, Esha said, “I am dead against drugs and have never touched them.” She described how the rumours deeply impacted her, adding, “When that article came out, I was so depressed and hurt that I told my mom she could get my blood test done to check.”

Esha underlined her commitment to maintaining her parents’ reputation. “I have always upheld my parents’ dignity and would never do anything to bring them shame,” she stated. Reflecting on her lifestyle at the time, she explained, “Yes, I would party, have a few drinks with friends, and enjoy myself. Why not? That was the right age and time for it. At that age, everyone parties and drinks; the only issue was that I was in the public eye.”

The incident serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by public figures, who often become targets of baseless allegations that can tarnish their reputation and emotional well-being. Esha’s candid account sheds light on the pressure of living under constant scrutiny and the resilience required to navigate such situations.

Esha’s revelation highlights the importance of verifying facts before drawing conclusions and the damaging effects rumours can have on individuals, particularly those in the spotlight.
