Avneet kaur , now 23, has spent over a decade in the entertainment industry, transitioning from a beloved child artist to a lead actress in films. However, her journey has not been without challenges. In a recent interview, Avneet candidly shared her experiences of discomfort and struggles she faced as a child actor.
Early Experiences of Discomfort
Speaking with Hauterrfly, Avneet recalled an unsettling incident from her early years in the industry. At just eight years old, during a dance rehearsal, she experienced inappropriate physical contact. This incident led to an important conversation with her mother about understanding good touch and bad touch.
“Once, during dance rehearsals, someone touched me inappropriately. I told my mother about it, and she explained what bad touch and good touch were. That was when I was just eight, and since then, I became more aware of such situations,” Avneet shared.
Facing Harsh Criticism as a Child Actor
Beyond personal safety concerns, Avneet also had to navigate the pressures of the industry at a young age. She recalled a particularly distressing experience when she was around 11 or 12 years old. A director gave her a difficult monologue to perform, and when she fumbled a few times, he humiliated her in front of the crew.

“He switched on his mic and started speaking harshly. He said I wasn’t capable of anything and would never succeed in the industry. He even verbally abused me,” she revealed. At the time, her parents were not allowed on set, leaving her confused and shaken. “I told my parents later, but my self-confidence as an actor took a hit,” she admitted.
A Decade-Long Journey in Showbiz
Avneet started her career at eight with the reality show Dance India Dance Li’l Masters. In 2012, she made her acting debut with Meri Maa and went on to appear in several TV shows. She transitioned to films in 2014 with Mardaani and, in 2023, took on a lead role in Tiku Weds Sheru.
Despite the hurdles, Avneet has emerged stronger, proving her resilience in an industry known for its harsh realities. Her journey serves as both an inspiration and a reminder of the challenges young actors often face in showbiz.
