Wedding season is around the corner. And the big question in everybody’s mind is how am I going to dress up for the occasion. It’s natural to be concerned about your looks. After all everyone wants to attract appreciative eyes. We all want to look our best and be complimented.
Wedding season give us the opportunity for spending time with our loved ones, of socialising with friends, of going on yummy snacks and savouries and of course, flaunting our fashion sense and dress to impress. So, grab this opportunity to dress up and make a style statement. But right fashion sense is as uncommon as common sense! Here is a smart guide to a smart dressing this wedding season.
Whatever be the event, colours work best. Colours add sparkle to the fashion and festivities. Try and organise a colour theme code for each function. Celebrate wearing eye-catching colours like tangerine, fuchsia, red and violet. Dress well.
“It is very important to wear a cut that fits you well and accentuates the right parts of your body,” says designer Ritu Seksaria.
If you want the traditional look, flaunt your ethnic wear. Wear the beautiful Banarasi sari you got in your trousseau and team it with a lovely choker and the traditional jhumkas (earrings) your mother gave you or wear the gorgeous Kanjeevaram sari and pair it with some gold jewellery which will be the envy of others. Make a hair bun and wear sweet-smelling gajras.
You can even choose to go traditional with a modern twist. Wear a beautiful red or green sari with a brocade pallu and team it with a well-fitting halter-neck blouse. You can opt for something classier like a sheer sari in monochromes and accessories it with diamonds and pearls. One can never go wrong with them.
If you feel all-traditional is too much for you, then go fusion! Combine Indian and western wear. You can wear a long embroidered kurta with contrasting capri-bottom, or a heavy bordered skirt paired with a basic top. But remember to accessorise your look by wearing traditional design jewellery to suit the occasion.
