‘Why Did She…’: Triptii Dimri’s Performance In Animal Didn’t Stop Uorfi From Criticising Her ‘Mere Mehboob’ Dance

Triptii Dimri started 2024 on a high note with her role in Ranbir Kapoor’s “Animal”. Since then, she’s signed multiple projects and is eager to expand her acting range, including venturing into dance. However, her recent dance performance in the song “Mere Mehboob” faced heavy criticism, including from fellow celebrity Uorfi Javed, who suggested she take dance lessons.

In an interview with Instant Bollywood, Uorfi was asked which celebrity could benefit from a dance class. She immediately pointed to Triptii Dimri, praising her acting skills but criticising her dance moves. Uorfi said, “She’s such a good actor, but that dance… oh my god, it was so bad! She’s so pretty, such a fab actor, but why did she do that?” Uorfi’s candid remarks quickly drew attention, adding to the criticism Dimri’s performance had already received on social media.

In response to the backlash, Dimri addressed the criticism in an interview with “The Hollywood Reporter”. She acknowledged that the song was her first dance number, and she hadn’t anticipated the strong reaction. “I didn’t realize it would get such a response,” she said, reflecting on her initial expectations. She also shared her thoughts on growing as an actress, explaining that while she once believed being good at acting was enough, she now embraces experimenting with different aspects of performance, even if not everything works perfectly. “There are things people like, and things they don’t,” she said, emphasizing that she wouldn’t stop trying new things because of criticism.

Professional front

Triptii Dimri was recently seen in “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3” alongside Kartik Aaryan and Vidya Balan. She is also working on “Dhadak 2”, co-starring Siddhant Chaturvedi, and continues to take on diverse roles in her career. Despite the mixed reactions to her dance debut, Dimri remains committed to broadening her horizons as an actress.
