Country’s voice nightingale Lata Mangeshkar had a long career. While she was making a name for herself in the music industry, also raised her four siblings and dedicated her life to cinema. Her personal life was always shrouded in gossip columns. However, At some point, some rumours were claiming to have links with some high profile names, but the singer and her dignified silence on any link-up and romance rumours never fueled these reports. The legendary singer and Bharat Ratna awardee chose to remain unmarried for the rest of her life.

 

Lata Mangeshkar mostly avoided answering questions about her personal life, on a rare occasion the singer shared her thoughts on love, marriage, and children and their seriousness in her life. When asked who was the lucky person in her life and how love affected her?, Lata told Hindustan Times, “Some things are only for the heart to know. Let me put it that way.”

During an interview in 2013, she also spoke about her popular opinion that society thinks a woman is ‘imperfect’ unless she is married and has children. “People talk about all kinds of things, so learn to ignore them. Otherwise, It will be very difficult to live a happy life. Negative and depressing energies should be kept away. I’ve always done that,” she said.

The Nightingale of India believed that it is important to first find happiness and a sense of fulfillment within oneself, or else the dream of mere marriage or fulfillment with children loses its importance.”

Family responsibility was also the reason 

After losing her father at the age of just 12, Lata didi took over the responsibility of the entire family. Lata didi had 4 younger siblings in her family. She was the eldest of her four siblings – Meena Khadikar, Asha Bhosle, Usha Mangeshkar, and Hridaynath Mangeshkar – who are all famous singers and musicians.

Bharat Ratna singer lata Mangeshkar passed away at 8:12 am on Sunday after a 28-day long battle with COVID-19, pneumonia, and related issues, leaving behind a legacy that will be difficult to combat.
