Will Bollywood Ever See Another Trio Like Khans? What Aamir Khan Says

For nearly three decades, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Aamir Khan have dominated Bollywood like no other. Their collective reign remains unchallenged, with their only real competition being each other. Despite the changing tides of the film industry, no other trio has managed to replicate their superstardom. However, their journey to the top wasn’t always smooth, marked by rivalry before friendship took over.

‘Of Course, We Were Rivals’: Aamir Khan on Early Competition

Aamir Khan recently opened up about the initial tension among the three superstars. Speaking to the YouTube channel Just Too Filmy, he candidly admitted that their early years were defined by a strong sense of competition.

“Of course there was rivalry… What are you even asking?” Aamir said when asked about their dynamic. “Each of us wanted to outpace the other two. Isn’t that what you call rivalry? So, that was there.”

While their competition appeared friendly, Aamir acknowledged that there were also conflicts. “I think many of them have been well reported in the media,” he remarked. “But these things happen between friends, right? In any relationship, disagreements come along with friendship.”

From Rivals to Friends: A Bond That Stands the Test of Time

Despite the initial friction, the three actors have long moved past that phase. “It’s been 35 years since we started out together,” Aamir noted. “We were born in the same year—1965—and made our debuts more or less around the same time. Now, that rivalry is no longer there. I don’t think Shah Rukh, Salman, or I even look at it that way anymore.”

He further emphasized how their relationship has evolved over time. “There’s a warmth and friendship between us now, stronger than ever. We are much more comfortable with each other.”

The Khans’ Skit at Ambani Wedding: A Testament to Their Bond

Aamir also shared an anecdote from Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s pre-wedding celebrations in Jamnagar, Gujarat. The three Khans took the stage together in a memorable act.

“Salman and Shah Rukh had already planned something for their entry. Then Mukesh (Ambani) called me, saying, ‘It would be nice if you joined too,’” Aamir recalled. “It was a last-minute request, but I immediately said yes. The three of us sat down for about half an hour and prepared that skit you all saw.”

What stood out to Aamir was the ease with which they worked together. “We were freely exchanging ideas. Once the rehearsal was over, I told them: ‘Now, the three of us can do a film together.’ They agreed. Having been together for so long, I think the audience would also love to see us together in a movie.”

Will the Three Khans Ever Share the Screen

Over the years, Salman and Shah Rukh have co-starred in films like Karan Arjun and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, while Aamir and Salman worked together in Andaz Apna Apna. However, a film featuring all three remains elusive. With their bond stronger than ever, fans can only hope that Bollywood’s biggest superstars will finally unite on screen.
