X-Men Star Olivia Munn’s Million-Dollar Stand: Why She Said No To Hush Money

Hollywood actress Olivia Munn has revealed that she turned down a seven-figure offer from a studio to stay silent about a “traumatic” experience on set.

During her appearance on Monica Lewinsky’s Reclaiming podcast on Tuesday, the 44-year-old actress disclosed that she was pressured to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) after filing complaints regarding poor treatment on an undisclosed project.

“There were other things that happened on this movie set personally to me that were really not okay, and it was so traumatic that I had to file complaints with the studio,” Munn shared. “And there’s a lot of other little things that go along with it.”

Without naming the project or the production house, the Buddy Games star revealed that the studio attempted to settle the issue with a hefty compensation package. “But it got to this place where I was offered a lot of money. A lot of money. Seven figures to accept, I guess, their apology and them taking acknowledgment of it,” she said.

However, the offer came with strings attached. The payment required her to sign an NDA, effectively barring her from ever speaking about the incident. Munn clarified that while she had no intention of going public with the details, she still refused to be legally bound to silence.

“Not that I ever would talk about it truly, because I wanted to move past it all,” she explained. “That’s why I don’t want to talk about the specific things that happened in that situation.”

Her refusal led to further pressure from the studio. “I said, ‘I’m not signing an NDA,’ and they said, ‘You have to,’ and I just felt that it was so wrong,” she recalled.

Munn admitted she was worried that signing the NDA could backfire, with the studio potentially leaking its existence to discredit her. “I was concerned that they would leak out that I had signed an NDA for money in an effort to diminish my voice,” she said.

Her revelation has reignited conversations about workplace ethics in Hollywood, with many praising her for taking a stand despite the financial lure. Munn’s decision highlights the ongoing struggle for transparency and fair treatment in the entertainment industry, where money and power often dictate whose voices get heard.
