Yo Yo Honey Singh and his wife Shalini Talwar have finally been granted divorce by a Delhi Court on Tuesday, November 8th, after 13 years of marriage.

Principal Judge, Paramjit Singh, at the Saket Court issued the second motion filed after a mutual settlement agreement. Both parties reached a mutual agreement on a domestic violence case filed in 2021 by Shalini. Honey and Shalini filed for divorce in September 2021, when a six-month interregnum period was granted. The rapper agreed to pay INR 1 crore by way of alimony to his wife.

A Long-Drawn Conflict for Separation

The couple was in a two-and-a-half-year-long legal battle after Shalini accused the singer of mental and emotional torture. Talwar filed a case in August 2021, alleging Singh of domestic violence. She also stated that he had a history of intimidation and would resort to violence if he did not get his way.

Honey refuted the news of domestic violence against his wife in a post on Instagram. He called the accusations “false” and “malicious.” Singh continued that “the allegations are cynical and defaming in nature.” He refrained from commenting until a court of law passed a judgment on the matter.

The divorce was granted by the court and the domestic violence allegations were withdrawn once both parties reached a settlement. The terms of the settlement were sealed in an envelope. When pronouncing the order, Singh was asked by the judge if he had any intentions of reconciling. Honey replied in the negative, continuing that there was now no possibility of a reunion.

Speaking on Honey Singh’s behalf, Ishan Mukherjee, his attorney said, “The divorce decree has been issued and the second motion has been granted.” He, however, refused to comment further as it was a private marital matter.

School Romance Turned Sour

Shalini Talwar and Honey Singh met when both were in school and in love. Both of them maintained their relationship for ten years before getting married in January 2011 in a traditional Sikh marriage. Although initially the marriage was kept a secret, Singh admitted to being married in an interview in 2013.

 

While Talwar has not mentioned news of moving on, Honey has found new love. Honey Singh confirmed his relationship with model-turned-actress Tina Thadani after appearing for an event together in December 2022. Tina starred in Honey’s music video and recalled their bond deepening naturally over time.
