Presently, the hatred for celebrities is costing them a lot. Masses are boycotting films of producers, directors and actors who have hurt their sentiments in one way or the other. This is causing huge monetary losses to the film fraternity. Recently, filmmaker Karan Johar, known for talking his heart out with the media has opened up on the same. Johar, who is bluntly honest and often gives controversial statements has said that one has turn learned to ignore the kind of negativity this ‘Cancel culture’ is spreading.
Karan, who is all set to return to TV as a judge on the upcoming dance reality show, Jhalak Dikhla Ja after five years, was asked if he thinks that if television is a ‘safe platform’ in present times, given the current Boycott trend in film industry. He said, “I think that you have to turn a blind eye towards negativity in general. I think if you are positive from within, you will only attract positivity. However, if you start listening and reacting to negative things, it will only bring the same energy. And hence, I have shut it out of life.”
He further stated, “I also believe that negativity should be justified. Jo galat hai, it deserves to be told off but you cannot do it for no reason. Hence, I just choose to focus only on positivity.”
Sharing how excited he is to be back on Jhalak Dikhla Ja, Karan confessed, “As soon as they called me for the show, I said yes. I think they had me at just a hello.”
Karan also revealed that it is the viewers of the television that brought him back to the small screen. He quoted, “I think it’s the audience. There is such a massive audience base for TV. People are watching the show across the nation, in every city and town. It’s beautiful how everyone sits together as a family to watch television. There is so much love that these shows get and I think that’s the reason why we are all here.”
Jhalak Dikhla Ja will be premiering this weekend. Besides KJo, it has Madhuri Dixit and Nora Fatehi in the judging panel. Maniesh Paul will be taking the hosting duties. Famous names from TV like Rubina Dilaik, Shilpa Shinde, Dheeraj Dhoopar, Paras Kalnawat, Nia Sharma, and Niti Taylor among others will be the contestants on the show.
