Do You Know? One Jhanvi Kapoor Claimed Herself As Abhishek Bachchan’s Wife During His Marriage To Aishwarya Rai
Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai, one of Bollywood’s most beloved couples, have recently been at the center of public attention due to persistent divorce rumors. These speculations intensified following their separate arrivals at the wedding of Radhika Merchant and Anant Ambani, sparking renewed interest in their relationship.
Amid these rumors, an old incident from 2007 has resurfaced, shedding light on the couple’s past controversies. On April 20, 2007, a model named Jhanvi Kapoor made headlines when she arrived uninvited at Abhishek and Aishwarya’s wedding and claimed to be Abhishek’s wife.
The incident, widely regarded as a publicity stunt, took a dramatic turn when Kapoor attempted suicide by slitting her wrist. She was promptly taken to a nearby hospital and later released from custody after paying a fine of Rs 10,000.
As divorce rumors continue to swirl, a throwback interview of Abhishek Bachchan has resurfaced on social media, offering a glimpse into the couple’s early days. In an appearance on The Ranveer Show in 2021, Abhishek shared the story of his first encounter with Aishwarya. Recalling the meeting, he said, “My dear friend Bobby Deol was shooting his first film, Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya. I was at the same location, and when I went to say hi to him, he invited me to dinner. That was Aishwarya’s first Hindi film, and that’s the first time I ever interacted with her.”
Abhishek added, “Whenever she talks about it, she jokingly says, ‘I couldn’t understand a word of what you were saying.’ I must’ve had a heavy accent at that point, having spent my formative years in an international boarding school and later in Boston.”
The couple, who tied the knot in 2007, have faced numerous rumors about their marriage over the years. Recently, Abhishek fueled speculation when he liked an Instagram post by author Heena Khandelwal discussing the rise of “grey divorces” and relationships that have grown difficult over time.
