When Amitabh Bachchan’s One Advice Shaped Abhishek Bachchan’s Acting Career
Not many people know that Abhishek Bachchan had studied acting at Boston University in his early days before he stepped into showbiz. Interestingly, when his father, megastar Amitabh Bachchan, heard about it he simply gave him one piece of advice – ‘Stop it and come back home!’ During a recent appearance at The Kapil Sharma Show, Abhishek shared with everyone this never-heard-before story. While sharing his thoughts on the importance of knowing your mother language properly the popular actor revealed when he was studying acting in his university in Boston, he had informed Amitabh Bachchan that he wanted to become an actor and was also training for it there. However, his father’s first response was, ‘Very good, now come back home.’ Amitabh Bachchan then explained to Abhishek why he said so.
According to him, Abhishek was studying William Shakespeare’s dramas in Boston but in reality, it won’t work in India. So the veteran actor had advised his son to come back and learn the language and then acting will come to him naturally. This important piece of advice changed the course of Abhishek’s career at that time. In the show, it was also discussed how Amitabh Bachchan made speaking and knowing Hindi in a cool way and how he taught generations to be proud of their own language instead of getting obsessed with English. Chitrangda Singh, Abhishek’s co-star from their latest release ‘Bob Biswas’ was also present at the show and she echoed the same thought.
Meanwhile, Abhishek Bachchan’s latest release ‘Bob Biswas’ has so far received rave reviews. In this spin-off of the 2012 hit ‘Kahaani’, he plays the titular role of an insurance agent and at the same time a hired assassin. The film has been directed by Diya Annapurna Ghosh.
