‘Zoomed In Body Parts To Highlight Them’: Huma Qureshi On Being Victim Of Fat-Shaming!

Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi has created a separate fan base. She has been part of many excellent films. However, there is also a section audiences which troll the actress frequently for her body. In a recent interview with Barkha Dutt, Huma recalled the early days of her career and told how she had to face fat shaming.

Huma was body shamed at the age of 20

Remembering her initial days in the industry, the actress said that she had gone through a very bad phase at the age of 20. During that time, the covers of magazines had negative things written about her. Besides this, some reviews targeted her body more than her acting.

Referring to an article, Huma said that at that time, comments were made on her knees in the articles. Not only this, people used to comment on her clothes as to what she was wearing. They used to zoom in on the photo and make a circle on some parts of her body to highlight them. These photos are used to spread on social media.

In the same interaction, Huma shared how people often advised her to lose weight or undergo liposuction surgery. Not only this, a film critic once said that Huma is a very good actress with a beautiful face, but maybe she is 5 kilos overweight to become a mainstream actress. Huma was so sad after reading this review, that she started crying.

For the unversed, Huma Qureshi has made a different place in the industry with her choice of films which include ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’, ‘Badlapur’, ‘Ek Thi Daayan’, and ‘Monica – O My Darling’. She is currently grabbing the limelight for her upcoming biopic on chef Tarla Dalal.
