Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s Epic Clapback: Flashback Video Sends Internet Into Frenzy

Every time Aishwarya Rai Bachchan releases a flashback video, the internet goes wild. Aishwarya is featured in an old media clip that is making the rounds online, in which a journalist mis-identifies her as the source of a statement.

In the video, she is questioned by a member of the media about an interview in which she is purported to have discussed heading to Hollywood. One of the first Bollywood actresses to move to Hollywood was Aishwarya Rai. She lost her temper at an event around the same time when a member of the media asked her if she was moving to Hollywood.

What’s in the video?

Aishwarya may be seen attending a function wearing a yellow top in the video that is currently doing the rounds on an Instagram fan page. A member of the media questions her on a statement she made implying that she is moving to Hollywood.

The actor, though, snaps and cries out, “Wait a minute. I said that when? Which interview is this? No, show me the interview, and after that, we can discuss.

She asks another member of the media if she’s said so in any interview, and the journalist says she’s not aware. “If you want to ask a question, please do. Don’t attribute statements to me. I’ve worked first in Tamil films, then in Hindi and Bengali films, and now, I’m working in some English films. But this does not mean I’m shifting anywhere or I’m part of any other industry. It’s just broadening your experience in some way,” added Aishwarya.

Reactions to the video

Aishwarya received praise from many for correcting the records, but some likened her to her mother-in-law, veteran performer Jaya Bachchan, who was notorious for berating the press. One user commented, “Ohh glimpse of Jaya ji (teary-eyed laughter emoji)”.

Another person said, “OMG she sounded like (how) Jaya Bachchan sounds today.” A third one said, “In a split second, I felt Jaya Bachchan’s accent (teary-eyed laughter emoji).”

Iruvar, a 1997 Tamil political film directed by Mani Ratnam, marked Aishwarya Rai’s professional debut. In the same year, she made her Bollywood debut in the love film Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya, directed by Rahul Rawail.

Her breakthrough films in Hollywood were the 2004 romantic comedy Bride and Prejudice starring Gurinder Chadha, the 2005 romantic film The Mistress of Spices starring Paul Mayeda Berges, and The Pink Panther 2 comedy mystery directed by Harald Zwart.
