Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt has a promising career graph. She has given more hits than misses. The actress who is riding high on the success of her last release ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ recently talked about the tough financial situation that her family had faced in the past. Alia credited her parents- filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and actress Soni Razdan for their struggles to make her journey easier in films. She also discussed her father’s battle with alcoholism.
Alia Bhatt recalls facing financial crisis
In an interview with Elle, the actress said that her dad had a bunch of flops at one point in his life, barely had any money and was fighting with his alcohol addiction. He eventually gave up drinking, but things were still not up to the mark in his life. Alia stated that she recognises her privilege because her parents struggled to get to a point where she could enjoy that. She said that she will always be grateful for getting great opportunities even if she stops doing well and getting films in future.
Alia praises her mother
Further in the conversation, the actress hailed her mother for working hard despite not becoming mainstream leading lady status. She mentioned that her mom couldn’t speak Hindi well and didn’t know how she was going to make it. Alia quoted Soni did not have any connection to the industry. She went from theaters to film studios to television studios for auditions.
The actress added that her mother took all kind of acting opportunities- television, film, or theater. She revealed that her mom’s experience ‘made a big impact’ on her as she became aware of her privilege at an early age. Alia said that Soni prepared her for acting. She advised her on punctuality, patience and resistance ‘either for rejection or for what people will be saying’ about her.
For the unversed, Alia Bhatt’s father Mahesh Bhatt has helmed critically-acclaimed films like Arth (1982) and Saaransh (1984). On the other hand, Soni Razdan who was born to German mother and Kashmiri father is famous for her act in TV show ‘Buniyaad’.
