In 2018, many actresses came forward and talked about facing casting couch and harassment in the film industry. And one of them was Amyra Dastur. Actress Amyra who has carved her niche not only in Hindi but also in South films had once revealed how she had to face exploitation in both the industries.
‘Not much difference between South and Bollywood’
When asked if she has faced casting couch or harassment in her journey, Amyra had told IANS, “To be honest, I haven’t faced casting couch in South or Bollywood. But yes, I have faced harassment at the hands of both men and women. They made sure I felt helpless.
However, Amyra said that she does carry the courage to take names of all those who tortured her because they are powerful people. “I don’t have guts to name them because they are at great positions. But they know exactly who they are and what they have done. What I would say for now is that they need to stop doing it as a wave is coming which will surely change things and their position will not save them in the future,” Amyra had added.
‘Misbehaved with me during a shot’
Citing an incident, Amyra had shared, “Once an actor clinged to me badly during a song shoot. He came near and whispered in my ear that my presence in the film has made him happy. I pushed him away and refused to talk to him again. He made my experience miserable.”
Furthermore, Amyra had said, “My director harassed me a lot about it. He used to call me early on the set and make me wait for hours for my shot. I was asked to shoot for 18 hours a day and was made to apologise to the actor.”
Amyra’s career
Amyra Dastur forayed into Bollywood with ‘Issaq’ alongside Prateik Babbar. She has starred in films like ‘Mr X’, ‘Rajma Chawal’ and ‘Judgemental Hai Kya’.
