Anne Hathaway on being 5 years sober

Although she does not discuss it much, Anne stated that she is proud of having been sober for more than five years. For her, it is a “milestone.” “Forty feels like a gift. The fact of the matter is that I hesitate at calling things ‘middle age’ simply because I can be a semantic stickler and I could get hit by a car later today. We don’t know if this is middle age. We don’t know anything,” she said. (Read more: Anne Hathaway Walks Out Of Vanity Fair Shoot For THIS Unexpected Reason)

On why Hathaway turned sober

In 2019, Anne Hathaway discussed beginning her sobriety on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Following the drunken driving of her child to school in 2019, Anne Hathaway made the claim that she had given up alcohol. “I’m going to stop drinking while my son’s living in my house. I don’t totally love the way I drink. And he’s getting to an age where he really does need me all the time in the mornings. I did one school run one day where I dropped him off at school. I wasn’t driving. But I was hungover, and that was enough for me. I didn’t love that one,” she had said.

Will she never drink again?

She revealed last year that she didn’t stop drinking because it was a problem. She put it down because the way she drinks leads her to have hangovers, and those were the problems. Her last hangover lasted for five days.

When she is at a stage in her life where there is enough space for her to have a hangover, she will start drinking again, but that won’t be until her kid is out of the house.
