Beyond The Surface: Pankaj Tripathi Compares The Unorthodox Father-Son Bonds In Kadak Singh And Animal

Actor Pankaj Tripathi, who is known for his versatile and nuanced performances, has opened up about the similarities and differences between his latest film Kadak Singh and Ranbir Kapoor’s upcoming film Animal. Both films deal with the complex relationship between a father and a son but in very different ways.

Kadak Singh, directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, is a thriller that revolves around a corrupt officer (Tripathi) who suffers from retrograde amnesia and tries to solve a chit fund scam with the help of his estranged daughter (Sanjana Sanghi). Animal, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, is a crime drama that follows a son (Kapoor) who seeks revenge against his father (Anil Kapoor) for killing his mother.

Tripathi said that both films show the same emotion of a father-son bond, but in opposite directions. He said, “Kadak Singh is about a father who is trying to reconnect with his son, who is in a rehab center. Animal is about a son who is trying to kill his father, who is a criminal. Both films are about the same emotion, but almost North Pole-South Pole.”

He added that he welcomes the diversity of films in Hindi cinema that explore the same theme in different ways. He said, “I think it is a good thing that we have different kinds of films on the same emotion. There is an audience for both kinds of films. I think it is a sign of a healthy and mature industry.”

Tripathi also praised his co-stars in Kadak Singh, especially Sanghi, who plays his daughter. He said, “She is a very talented and hardworking actor. She has a bright future ahead of her. We had a great rapport on the set. We used to improvise a lot and create scenes on the spot. She was very supportive and cooperative.”

Kadak Singh, which also stars Parvathy Thiruvothu, Jaya Ahsan, Paresh Pahuja, and Dilip Shankar, was released on ZEE5 on December 8, 2023.
